In light of recent learning I've been able to participate in. There was a Science Social Research where people were able to take a look closer into same-sex parenting and children's outcome. A journal was published on March 12, 2012 regarding the controversial topic. I was going through the article and noticed some conflicting ways on going about a bias experiment. With many statistic studies going on about how there's "no evidence that same-sex parents are different from each other." This is a very sensitive recent topic as the world are starting to accept same-sex marriages. From my personal view, people are fine to do whatever they chose to do as long as they don't harm another. It's completely for same-sex couples exists even though I don't support it. But to complete a survey or data based on false assumptions and bias recordings only to make same-sex marriages seem as though that there's no problem with it, is not in any way acceptable! From what I've gathered, there's been some misreading of the analysis. According to the article "Hijacking Science: How the “No Differences” Consensus about Same-Sex Households and Children Works," there were over 19,000 quality studies of same-sex households with children. The problem arises when none of those studies has detected any problems. Which was suspicious to people because 26 peer review came from National Longitudinal Lesbian Family Study. They repeated the survey with well of lesbians couples with children who are Caucasians and educated. These studies has left with the impression that they represent the entire population. Mostly by the scholarly communities and the media in which a great amount of people believe in. Which already proves my point where the studies are quite skeptical.
For this reason, we reach my main point. There may be research out there that are measured dishonestly. People with political agendas are at work whether we believe it or not. In this fallen world, we must seek diligently for knowledge with the utmost faith. The fallen world itself uses the good truth and twist it using our personal emotions. People act impulsively on their emotions to compensate for their pain and agony. Especially to the things they can't control. They tend to rely on the news media to tell them what is going on in the world, and giving false reasons why it happens. I have my own personal biases as well. There are things in our lives that we must stand grounded on. Being strong in our beliefs is a must when it is right, but being diligent when it comes to finding the truth must also be as important. Imagine when two people are in a heated debate with each other. How can you really know what they're saying is true. Sometimes, people just want to be right just out of pride. Sometimes, people have different motives for their own gain. It is wise for all of us to make connections while listening to others with a grain of salt. Many of us starts off not knowing and it is our curiosity is what drives our action. Our very actions and how we go about discerning the statements made by others goes hand in hand. Providing evidence is key to our seeking in order to make connections. If we know that we will be facing opposition, it's imperative to be ready and defend the truth by integrity of our individual evidences. Another important fact that I have learn, is that we must labor knowing that it will always be an ongoing process as a part of our lives. The faith to take action fuels this process as it develops, evolves and changes. As news comes into our lives, we face uncertainties with fears and emotions. Acting impulsively to it will put us in a position to making poor choices as we struggle to find the truth. That's why the element of discipline must become a part of our character. It will be a challenge to all of us at some point in our lives. To me, it is truly a blessing to go through it even though I may struggle. But if I am persistence, I will find the truth by faith without fear.
